I am probably diggin up bones but I have to ask, does my 2012 Super Glide with 2 separate exhaust pipes have a CC on each. I am thinking of having them removed if they are there and having the baffles drilled as well in order to increase / improve sound and I am not planning to remap or add a tuner.

It sounds to me from reading this long thread (yes, I read it all) that my set-up will run fine and reduce right side heat.

It may as well add negligible performance gains.

All stock headers from 2009 - 2013 have the cat material in them right where the 2 pipes come together. They are split at the cylinders and come together near your foot and separate again. .You have to remove the heat shields to see I have removed mine and several others. I can honestly tell you that I could hear and feel a difference after. I actually had a guy at the local hd dealer compliment the sound and ask why mine sounded so much better than his with nearly the same setup. I informed him and 2 days later I was cutting his open and welding them closed. Make sure to put a good weld. I cut a rectangle shape out in the collector and used a torch to melt the cat material out. I also used a tig welder to stich them back up. You can mig or stick weld them but tig is much cleaner looking IMO. Hope I helped and good luck.

Yes, you have a converter. If you do what you're suggesting your bike will get louder and run worse.

Respectfully disagree. A vance and hines power dual setup or 2-1-2 setup is no different. All this is doing is allowing exhaust gasses to exit the system faster. Granted with a tuner you would get much more efficient results. But in no way would the bike run worse.

It's not as easy as that with an EFI bike. You can't read plugs like you used to with a carb. Does your bike use any oil? It SHOULD run the same (cat or no) unless you did something to the intake...

Stock tune, intake and mufflers. The bike is a 2012 flhtk with 3500 miles on it.

note: Jrindagame you answered a question asked in 2012, thread started in 2011.
There have been many since with an overwhelming positive responses in reducing heat & increasing sound.

Decating in itself should not make a difference in the tune, but most also add A/C & pipes to increase airflow without re tuning which does make it run leaner.
