The cool weather is the best time of year for me ... but I have to agree that once the salt boys start doin' their thing I'm puttin' the scooter in the garage.

Left Ft. Worth, TX this morning headed for Prescott, AZ. 26 degrees when I left, 23 in Weatherford, 25 in Abilene. Crap! You know it's cold when you crack your visor to clear the fog and it freezes instantly!

When my buddy and I first got our bikes we rode all year long. Found that with snow mobile mittens, ff helmet, goose down vest under leather jacket, we could ride for 1 hr before knees would begin to freeze. Then we'd stop at our fav bar, eat a large pizza chased w/beer, and be ready for the road again. That cold sure helps the appetite.

Unless there is snow on the ground and/or under 20, I dress appropriately and ride. (FF helmet, heavy leather jacket with layers, chaps.)

Cool riding is awesome, but here in the central/southern part of Texas, cool is relative. We are currently in the upper 20's/mid 30's in the morning and warming up to 40's/50's. No snow or ice or salt on the roads and my bike runs great in this weather. Staying warm enough is the only challenge but that's what leather is for

Can you suggest a 1/2 decent pair of liners that aren't too bulky but don't restrict movement by being too tight either? It would be nice to find something that you can wear over jeans and zips up the full length of the legs like chaps so they can be easily put on/taken off.
Olympia make high quality textile gear. This is what I use. They are easy to get on like chaps with full length zippers up the legs.

I ride down to the low 30's. The 40's-50's are perfect riding weather.

We get our share of cold weather in N. MS, yesterday 3" of snow, but it was all gone today and 47*.

Fortunately they don't use salt on the roads down here and I am able to ride year round except for the odd days when it is below freezing.
