2012 Vivid Black paint/clearcoat question
I recently bought a 2012 FLTRX Vivid Black and I'm pretty happy with it.
Problem is, I, as well as others, have noticed and commented that the fuel tank paint does not look as the rest of the bike's tins(fenders, fairing, ect).
The tank has what I can best describe as a very light grayish hue to it, like smoked, hazed clearcoat. Its more noticeable under certain light conditions than others but its there. It definitively doesn't look as deep and pure black as the other tins.
My brother noticed it immediately when I got her home.
I checked my brother in law's 2010 FLHX Vivid Black and his tank does not have the "hue" and match perfectly the rest of the tins.
I've tried wax, "Harley Gloss" and Pledge with no results.
Anyone heard of or has this "problem"?? Been debating on taking it back to the dealer so trying to research this a bit before I decide to bring her in.
BTW its noticeable enough that it actually bothers me ..
Thanks!

That got me thinking. Oh, oh, look out!
No seriously, are the tanks painted by robots?
It's probably a Quality Control thing and your best bet is to let the dealer make it right. If not, escalate it to the moco...
Is there anyway of tracking if the tank is original to the bike?
Like engine/chassis "numbers matching?"

Yeah if you look at my sig it matches perfectly.....you've got a QA issue and probably should not have taken delivery....def take it back...don't even let them talk having it painted for you, factory paint is always a guaranteed match so tell them you want a tank swap.....I cant believe no one noticed that....geeezus
