Mine is a 2002 RKC with Delphi FI. It has 34,000 miles on it and I plan on keeping this bike for a long time. I had a speed sensor go out two years ago; the dealer popped a new one in and its been running fine ever since. Keep your fluids fresh and those bikes should run forever...well, at least a real long time.

I have an 01 Ultra with upgrades listed in my signature. I bought it in November 07 with 4000 miles on it and just rolled over 42000 this week. Only problems were cam tensioners at 13000 and rotor magnets coming apart at 41500 which caused a total rebuild of the primary since i was into already. Also had fuel pump, regulator and hoses replaced at 34000. I've also adde the Mustang Touring seat and backrest pad to the tourpack, the turn-brake light control to the tourpak, Truck-Lite L.E.D. headlight and running lights as well as L.E.D taillight and the run-brake-turn assemblyto the rear. It's used a quart of oil per 5000 mile oil change ever since new (according to the original owner) and still does today, so i'm going to replace the stock plastic breathers with the new stamped steel ones in a week or so, hoping that will slow cosumption. Other than that, i don't see this old girl going anywhere til after i'm gone.

Default 99 RK Classic

Hi All,
I bought my 99 Road King in 07 with 11,000 miles on her, clock currently shows 67,500. I had heard all about the tensioners and at 17,000 and went with S&S 510 gear drive, AN big sucker and had older Screaming eagle slipons, also added AN Big shot fuel modulator. I put a TRW bagger brace and last spring upgraded swingarm off a 07 with CCE bearings. Really tightened up the back end. Replaced battery this spring. This spring I'm going to put 07 lower legs and 4 piston stock harley calipers on her. She is payed for and still running strong, if I won the lottery I'd think about a Road Glide but I'd never give this girl up.....goldie

2000 Road King police here. Bike has 75k on it with a complete down to frame rebuild done at 55k in 2010. 103 screaming eagle kit installed with a 45 mm mikuni and a screaming eagle six speed. No trouble except for the wiring to ignition switch kept coming loose, easy fix with a wire tie. The only other trouble I have had is the oil cooler lines were rubbing on the voltage regulator wires and had worn a hole in them and they started arching and burned a whole in the oil line. Reroute with new oil line fixed it.

I love this bike and will keep it until it turns to dust. I have an 07' that I never ride because it is not as much fun as the carb. I have ridden a 12' street glide and an 11' road glide and did not like either one as much as I like my King. Its nice to be satisfied with a bike for a change.

'02 Road King with 76,000 miles on now, bought "used" in '02 with 3,000 miles with HD 95" kit installed, SE air cleaner, stock cams and ECM flash & stock exhaust. I had several mufflers with a PCIII At 42,000 miles I pulled the cam cover & found the tensioners worn out but no damage; replaced cams with S&S 510G and gear drive setup. At 64,000 miles, pulled jugs, bored .005 over and installed 9.7:1 pistons (signature says 10.25... that's another story which I won't get into) and S&S 585G cams because I wanted to, not because of any issues. Also had heads ported at this time. Somewhere in there, in the 45,000 mile range, I bent the rear cylinder exhaust valve. This happened the day after returning from a couple thousand mile road trip, and I believe was caused by an undetected exhaust leak at a crack in the y-pipe. pretty sure what happened is that the valve overheated, galled and then siezed in the guide (open) when the bike cooled off. The valve bent the following day when I started it up to pull out of the garage to wash the road grime off it. Was a fairly easy fix, and was only apart for a few days (I do almost all of my own repairs & maintenance, just farmed out the valve job). Other than this one issue, which could have been avoided if I'd caught the crack in the y-pipe (HD has updated that pipe multiple times since then) I haven't had any problems or necessary repairs other than normal wear and maintenance items (like motor mount, drive belt, primary chain, etc) until I crashed it pretty bad last summer. But that was almost entirely cosmetic damage. Oh, yeah, I had a couple leaks along the way: Primary (various) and rans shifter shaft seal.
I ride the hell out of this bike, sometimes pretty hard, and it's been rock solid dependable and lots of fun! WAY more comfortable than my old Ironhead chopper ever was...
