If you ride like you have a brain most officers wont bother you.I ride a bike putting 195hp to the rear wheel.I run a 2into1 Dragula pipe it boasts a 4" muffler body and a 3" baffle and this mother f'er is loud.Never once been pulled over.

It is amusing to read the problems of having loud and obnoxious exhaust when a stock out of the box whisper quite honda goldwing blows your doors off.

AZ seems to be localized in enforcement of pipe noise. As stated above, the only two places I know where citations are known to be issued is Carefree and Jerome.... details not necessary here.
I'm runnin' cored out headers and muffs, nice sound at reasonable throttle levels, but can do the proverbial 'bark' when throttle is opened. LEOs around the southern part of the state are typically cool as long as the biker is cool.
It is fun to hear the echos off high rises tho.... and hit it hard thru the underpasses....

Never had any issues in Wa. state with LEOs in regards to loud pipes. Of course I don't intentionally give them any ammo to hassle me either.
What he said! My current ride is fairly tame (V&H Monster Rounds) but both my old RK and my wife's Deluxe are louder than hell and never had any problems in Washington. For that matter, not in Idaho, Oregon, Northern CA, Montana, BC or ALberta either. But then again, we are not rapping the pipes in town either.

Live in WV and we have no laws for loud pipe.
That being said I did have a friend that got a warning for reving up his bike and acting stuping in front of Applebees.
I had pretty loud pipes on my Sportster and never had a problem.
Hell, most of the trucks around here out do the bikes when it comes to loud exhaust.

What they do go after is non DOT helmets.
Fine, Ticket, and a Tow
They have billboards all over the state warning everyone.

It still baffles me that if I have a legally inspected motorcycle with aftermarket exhuast that I can get a ticket for noise.
I mean the bike is legal in my state of residence so I should be able to travel anywhere in the USA without getting hassled.

If we follow some cities way of thinking then WV should be able to stop all the vehicles coming from states that don't require an annual vehicle inspection and give them a ticket for breaking our laws.
