A lot of stuff to remove. Good idea to have a manual. Use the search function. Inner Fairing removal with pics. Good pointers in old threads

Have you had your outer fairing off yet? Did you see the amount of stuff attached to the inner fairing? Can you remove all that and re-install it? If you can...then it is a piece
of cake.
Me? I can barely remember which plug is for my Tranny and which is for my engine oil.
I will save up $ for the inner fairing.

Difficulty is all relative. It depends on your level of skill. It's not hard to do. You just need to pay attention to where & how things come apart & go back together it's all plug & play. You can take pics w/ your cell & refer back to them when/if needed to reassemble. Just cover your gas tank & front fender with towels or padding. Good luck.

I took painters tape and marked every harness connection by number and the ones that were not connected to anything I tape off the end, it sure looked strange. but it wasn't that hard to go back together. mind you I did a road glide. but hey it was all worth it in the end

Mark, tape, photograph, and have your service manual handy.

Also I would recommend that in order to minimize down time, find a stock take-off on Ebay, get it painted to your satisfaction, then start the process. That way, you can get stuff back together quicker and with less mental gap between take down an reassembly. Plus you get to ride it sooner with the new inner faring.

A painted inner faring is worth every penny. It does so much for the looks of the bike it is unreal cool. Good luck with your change-out. Take your time, you CAN do it!

I did mine without any problems. I did like was mentioned in the above post. I bought a take off and had it painted and after I got it back I pulled the old one out and switched it over while everything was fresh in my mind. Do not let the wires intimidate you as they only plug back in one way. Mine was on an 04 egc.

I was just out in the garage removing the inner fairing from my 09 ultra. I agree with MNMSG008 on a scale of 1 to 10 it is about a 4, a few months ago I did a friends I marked all the wires, this time I did not bother as like said they only plug in one way.
