Default Sunglasses - Need assistance

Good day, Riders.
Hoping that other rdiers with a similar situation can advise me as to what to add to my Christmas "wish" list.....

I have ordered several pairs of sunglasses "on line". I want something a little better than ordinary glasses; padded frame, maybe interchangeable lens - if needed, etc. and have ordered these types previously.

My problem, it seems, is that I have a larger "bridge" nose than is normal and the typical performed frame glasses just don't sit down over the nose properly.

I see there are sunglasses with extra wide bridges but don't want to spend more money without another riders recommedation.

Any assistance or recommendation would be appreciated.

Ride In Peace

G

I have a condition called photophobia
I have been wearing sunglasses 24/7 since I was 10
school, court, jail, job interviews, even sleep in them.
real important and never mentioned is the issue with UV
sunglasses cause your pupil to dilate (open) allowing more light in to burn your retina cones.
if you wear sunglasses that are not UV protected you are doing a really bad thing to your eyes that as far as I know is irreparable.

as far as the wear on your nose. aviator style (like fonzie wore) have adjustment "horns" an optometrist can adjust wider deeper etc to accomadate the structure of your face.
worth every penny to take this issue to an optometrist.

moral of the story is that cheap sunglasses WILL **** you up.
one place to never cut any corners
imho

good luck.

Make sure to get polycarbonate lens to protect your eye from pebbles, bugs, and any other reasonably sized object.

For the wide bridge, goggles instead of glasses might work for you.

i would recommend that you stop ordering online and try them on at a local bike shop or eyeglass store so you dont waste more money. that said, i use glasses from "m shades". they dont have the foam inserts and come in clear, tinted, and amber lenses and cost about $30. because of the larger than normal thats attached to top of my neck ive had a hard time finding glasses that fit me properly. the m shades fit nicely and are comfortable for me. heres the link. http://mshades.com/?id=203&pid=72. i bought them from a local indy not their website. i was able to try them on before i tookm them home. they have other styles to choose from too. i hope this helps alil.

I love my 7Eye Glasses (formerly Panoptix)

THey don't get quite dark enough when the sun starts going down and riding west, but they are great all other times!

Try attending some biker events (i.e. Bike Nites, Daytona, etc.) there are usaully at least 10 vendors there selling various styles/types of riding glasses. I've tried alot of them and have settled on these for the time being.

Thanks for the post. I've been riding with the cheap KD's for years as they do a good job (at least for me) at blocking the wind. Since I'm pretty sure they offer no UV protection, I will look into getting some better eyewear.

No nose issue here but I use three critieria in picking sunglasses:

- impact resistant (they call it eye-protection
- polarized lenses (eleminates glare)
- fairly straight earpieces (slides in easier when wearing a helmet.)

Good luck,
Ken
