Very common misconception, even among Harley owners.

Chrome is super simple to keep clean, it doesn't show dust like paint and just use Windex or some other spray to clean it. Heck, water even.

Paint, especially black, shows everything (especially the front fairing) including dust. Big difference even with my Deuce vs. the SG.

I'm glad that I'm not the only one that had the same delima! I went with the 2011 SG with the 103" power pak. I love it. I did a stage 1 a/c, SERT and Rinehart 4" slipons. My best fiend has a 2008 RK and we trade bikes when we ride all the time. I can honestly say I like the SG better as a fit for me, but I do love riding his RK. A lot of good opinions and advice, great thread.

I'm in the market for a new bike. I had an 07 RKC with Chubby 14 apes. I loved the bike. However, i noticed i was getting really tired on long (300+) miles rides. I hated the windshield and never used it. I'm looking at the 12 SG now. I like the fairing, but not sure about the ride.. I will also have to test ride one. Again, it is personal choice.

You can go wrong anyways.... There are all HARLEYS.....

Just a reminder I swapped out '11 RK takeoffs rear shocks for $120 or so on eBay and now the ride should be the same now.

I have nothing against RK's but the Street Glide wins my vote everytime. Style, ride comfort and radio make the SG the winning vote. But in the end its your vote that counts.

Was at the dealer today and saw my three favorite bikes sitting together. Big blue SG,Blue\black RKC and a blue RK. I am so undecided which way to go my favorite looks wise is the SG but the RKs have that look when you remove the wind shield that SG cant do with their fairing. Btw the RKC is beautiful in that blue n black Oh what to do!!! lol I'm just

I've never liked fairings, so definitely the RoadKing. Besides--the SG is too trendy;everybody has one. Saw 5 vivid black ones parked in a row outside my dealership last week. All you see around here are vivid black SGs & denim black Streetbobs, & I'm gettin' sick of lookin' at 'em. And I think the winsheild on a RK provides more wind protection than the puny fairing on a SG.

And remember--you can't take the fairing off a SG, but you CAN add one to a RK!
