New Rear Shock Questions
I am going to update my suspension on my Limited this winter. I have 2 rear shocks in mind. Progressive 940's or the new HD Premium Ride Shocks. I would like to go with Ohlin's but right now it would put me over my budget for this year. I am going to be replacing the front with Progressive Mono Tubes standard height. My question is, I have not heard any feedback on the HD shocks and I am not getting anywhere with the search option. Any feed back or recommendations would be appreciated. I ride 2-up about 30% of the time.

I understand the budget thing, but the HD premiums are $499.00 and the 940s are $669.00, about another $100.00 and the discount Howard gives to members you could have the Ohlins. There are several guys here who have tried most of the premium shocks, but they ended up with Ohlins. Cheaper in the long run to just buy one pair of shocks.

Well..... you may be in luck. Next week I'm putting my Ohlin #2-#3 Shocks (The long travel ones) up for sale. Wife got laid off and I am having to liquidate some non-essential stuff to get by.
I'll be looking to get close to $400.00 for them if possible. Anybody will tell you that Ohlins are among the best, and Howard Messner (on this forum as motorcycle metal)(I think),gives the absolute best service around.

The HD premium have been getting OK reviews as well. But the HDs dont really allow you to properly adjust a "sag" in them from what Ive seen. The 940 do because of the two spring setup. Progressive 940 can be found for $ 469 including shipping from US Motoman on E Bay or from Phat Performance Parts for under $ 500 as well. HD Premium can ce found on EBay new for $429 ands Howard from Motorcycle Metel give a great discount on Ohlins to Forums Members so they are at leats 100 -250 off the list prices.
Im running the stock shocks with 7wt oil and its a good improvement but ill be getting new shocks soon and its between the Progressive 940 and Ohlins, other than the $ the only thing I am not sure of is the Ohlins need to be rebilt every 20 or 30000 miles Im told.

Was it a job to change the oil in the original shocks? I might try that with the rest of the things and get the Ohlins in the near future.

XARAN, what brand of 7wt did you use? I'm not sure about the service interval, but more importantly the Ohlins are capable of being rebuilt, are the others rebuildable?
harleycat225, I did the fluid swap on my stock shocks until I could afford what i wanted, it is a great interim mod, and it does improve the ride.

$37
For another $37 more (with your HDF discounts [2X of them]) you can get a #2 series if you stop on by and than you do not need shipping. If you ride here you qualify for free installation and see a set of shocks built just for you (providing you bring the beer) right before your eyes.
