good route from Monroe LA to Vicksburg MS
20 is a straight shot.......would like to take 134 to 65, then to 20.
Is there another way to get across the river north of Vicksburg and then come back down?........(Google maps do not show any).....cept way north.
I'm not in any hurry............just crusing around the "south".

If you are going to run 134 all the way to Lake Providence you could run US65 north to 82 then east across the river to Greenville, Ms. I haven't been on all of 134 but I know that much of the area is farmland. After you cross the river you could run Hwy 1 to Hwy 61 down to Vicksburg. That would be a lot of riding to keep from going I-20.
Have fun,

I used to travel that area quite a bit. If you go north out of Monroe (Funroe) toward Bastrop, LA you can find some nice backroads out of Bastrop or further north out of Crossett, AR. Those roads can lead you east into MS where you can hook up with the Parkway. The Parkway is nice but it's sort of like riding through a golf course where the speed limit is only around 50. I'd bypass Jackson, MS if I were you. Also, if you end up going to Vicksburg be sure and check out that battlefield and read a little history about the Siege of Vicksburg if you're not familiar with it. But those backroads and small towns in SE AR and northern MS and then over into AL are really interesting. Good people and the real deal on southern cooking. Don't expect to find any tasty microbrews or good coffee...lol.Get a map and you'll see some interesting possibilities.

Great day riding.............lots of interesting small towns and pretty good roads. North out of Monroe and ended up in Greenville and then south..............loved that Greenville bridge.
MTGRIZ............thanks for the "battlefield" tip. I am familiar with the siege, but would not have thought about "looking it up"
Spend about 3 hours in the park.......very, very impressive.....put over 10 miles on the bike following some of the tour route. That place is huge and pristine. Time well spent.
