Default Need some suggestionns on choosing bars for a Shark

Just bought a new Road Glide Custom, and after putting about 250 miles on it, I would like to change my sitting position. I would prefer to lean back a little further than I do, the bars are the right height, but I would prefer them to be about 2 or 3 inches further back and about 2 to 3 inches narrower.

I am hoping the farther back will get me sitting back enough to take advantage of a backrest and highway pegs. Hoping the narrower stance would give my cold fingers the benefit of being behind the fairing better.

Do any of you shark riders have some suggestion or solutions with what you've done?

Pics would be great if you got them or if you need a pic from me to show you anything such as current sitting position and such.

Thanks for any info...

I have heritage sytle bars on my 2011 RGU and they are perfect for my normal reach
5'9" frame. Best part for me was all the stock wiring and cables worked. It is an easy install and it only took about 3 hours or so taking my time.

I am having the same exact issue as you with my 12' FLTRX and its handlebars......I just ordered a set of the 12' FLTRXSE screamin eagle road glide bars for mine... I saw one at a dealer in Georgia and they look like they will be perfect... part number was 55800171

Second time I have heard this, but you are the first that has actually done it.

I know a dealer nearby that has a mix & match room of old bones from customer installs and such, perhaps he will have a set some Heritage bars in the room.

Thanks to all for the info

You actually need the heritage style bars that are made for the RG. part #56902-08 go to www.roadglide.org and do a search of heritage bars everything you need to know how to do it.

Be carefull here - the heritage bars don't work on the RGU - The Heritage STYLE bars do. I have on mine and love 'em. Bars and install was $200 and change.

What? Please explain why. All you need to do is notch the throttle end of the bar for the TBW insert.
