BS. Unless you run a lot over 80. The 88/5speed is fine. My bike, with Stage One upgrade runs 2800rpm at 65 mph,
3200rpm at 75 mph. Right in the sweet spot. The only reason I would want a newer bike is for ABS. I'm sure there are other nice things about newer bikes, but you won't miss them if you never tried them. Can't lose what you never had!
