I went a bit further and rigged a momentary switch in the switch panel, mounted on one of the oval blanks. My garage-door opener is >20 YO and I had a very old and rather large opener transmitter I wasn't using, something that looked like it might have vacuum tubes in it. I pulled the thing apart and rigged two wires in place of the device's push-button switch, then wired it to the switch on the dash. It worked for about eight years on my old RK (different switch location), then was transferred to the '07 SG about five years ago. Every five years or so I must remove the remote and replace the 9V battery.

Genie came back and said, "You should probably buy a new opener!" NOT!!! It still works and it's SO old no one can probably even steal the codes for it as they don't operate on the same mHZ anymore!
Thanks for the idea.
