Tinted my RK wind shield
There are aftermarket shields that have the bottom portion of the plexiglass tinted. I like this look and made a few calls to local auto window tinting places to see if they could tint the stock shield and they said that their material is for glass only. After a bit of searching there are spray-on tinting products but these generally have poor reviews. Some have posted that model paint -- made for plastic -- works well. I thought I would give this a try so I bought a small can of Testors gloss black spray paint, a small jar of the same color, a fine-point paint brush and some blue painters tape.
I forgot to snap some photos while it was all taped up but I applied the paint in 8-10 light coats over a 24 hour period. After I removed the tape I needed to touch-up a few spots near the chrome strip on the inside back of the shield. This remained in place as it is stuck there with double-sided tape that I didn't want to mess with.

Question about "why"
I think it looks good, but I am curious why you decided to paint it rather than tint it.
Tinting can be removed easily and if properly applied, won't leave a mark. Paint will require paint "removal" that will ruin the acyrlic.
Kudos on a good job though!! I really like the blacked out chrome look you're going for!!

Looks good. Reminds me of the old style two-piece windshields that had the adjustable piece around the headlight, this was often a tinted plastic such as blue or red to match the bike color. Like the one in this link: http://www.forum-bec.com/f466/1963-h...o-glide-42256/
