Default Xm and Zumo dilema

I have a dilema, I have been wanting sat radio for a while and it must be integrated nicely. The big issue is I live in the north and can only ride 8 months max and xm doesn't have a option to pause service and want to charge a service fee to cancel and restart. So I thought I had solved that by using a zumo 665 and planned on using it in the truck in winter, but now find out the subscription is based on the receiver in the antenna, not the 665. I planned on having 2 antennas so I didn't have to pull the fairing off the ultra to take the antenna out but that requires 2 subscriptions and that is not happening. Has anyone seen a decent solution? I am not riding around with antenna bag stuck to the tank either. Mike

i use the H-D handlebar mount with cyclenutz bracket for the xm antenna.
The XM antenna has a magnet on the bottom and will sit on the bracket with out the screws so you can just lift it off when you take the GPS off.

The subscription is based on the SID number of your receiver.
Every Sirius or XM receiver has a unique SID number (serial number).

Lots of people use their portable units between different vehicles.
I've never heard of any receiver in the antenna, but then again I am not familiar with how the Zumo operates.

Use the following link to find your SID number. If the number is the same between your two antennas then you'll be fine.

The 660 and 665 use the gxm40 antenna and you do not have a xm id unless the antenna is plugged in. On a 550 or any portable unit you have a id number regardless of the antenna.

For what it's worth, the 550 ID in regards to the XM subscription is associated with the external antenna also.

I too had intended to move the 550 from bike to car and even bought a second antenna. After I tried to move it to the car, I found out the subscription is associated with the ID in the antenna and not the Zumo.

So far I've just left the antenna on the bike under the fairing and have not looked for a way to make it easily removable. I figure if I do that someone else can move it too if I stop somewhere. I do always remove the 550 either to lock it in the trunk or to take it with me. I do not want to have to do that with the antenna also.

Maybe the easy thing to do would be to make a mount that i could access through the headlight hole, keeping the hassle to a minimum.

I don't know the wire length on that XM antenna, but the ones I have used are pretty long. I'd consider routing the wire to the tour pack, or one of the saddle bags. Should work through that plastic as well as the fairing, & they're lockable.

I have the zumo 550 and the XM GX30. As indicated the XM is the hockey puck and the ID is associated with the puck and not the 550. I used to keep the antenna in the fairing but due to poor reception moved it to the handlebar with a techmount.

I pulled the rubber backed magnet off the XM and stuck a circular piece of velcro on the mount/Antenna. It comes off and on in a second and I lock it in my tourpak. Although I don't use the antenna in another vehicle, this would allow you to do this. Again, the main reason I did this was for far better reception.

If the antenna is closer than 10" it messes up the bluetooth according to garmin.
