Thxs Folks, Have found only a few differences between Police & civilian, one is the triple tree has zerk fittings for the bearings, if I'm right civies have sealed bearings. 45 amp charging system. Still hunting to find all the differences.

Factory manual rocks!! Pays for itself the first time you use it.

I have an '04 Police Electra Glide and purchased the 2004 Touring model service manual and the 2004 Police Supplement.

As others have said, the primary differences are in the wiring; just check your handlebar controls with a civilian model and you will see why.

Those books pay for themselves over and over again if you do any of your own work.

If you get stuck at your dealers on a rainy day, ask for the civilian and police parts books and start comparing part numbers for motor, transmission, etc. There are almost no differences between the civilian and police models. Bascially, anything on a civilian bike you can do on your police model.

One misconception I had was with the hand levers. The HD book says the civilian model levers won't work on a police bike. In reality they work fine, but you have to jump the clutch interlock switch (that closes the starter circuit when you start the bike) and these wires are easily found on the wiring diagram for the police bike and inside the fairing on the left hand side. If you don't jump the wires, you will have beautiful levers on a bike that won't start--LOL.

[8D]Found a CDROM manual claims to be 706pp Factory manual for the 2003 Touring. $15.00 are there differences between 2002-2003?

For 15 bucks, could be a deal

I always buy 2 manuals, Factory and clymers. Then set them side by side when doing anything to my bikes. Sometimes one has a better way of doing it.

EBAY BAD!!!!size=3][/size]Okay After a couple hundred spent on Harley Trinkits( and I swore I'd never fall into the trap of getting every Harley trinkit) I bought for manuals. 2003 Touring Service on cd, 2002 Touring Service book, 2002 Parts and the 2000 Police Supplement book. Haven't received any yet. Too cold to ride, but gotta find a BETTER WAY TO BLOW TIME BESIDES EBAY!! Now where did I put those Harley Xmas ornaments..........
