Default Wild 1's 508 / 518 ??

Well, for all those who have gone the Wild 1's way.....

I have decided on these but I'm still undecided about either the 508's or the 518's. I'm 6'2" with a standard length reach (knuckles don't drag the ground or anything) however I do like to sit back a bit on the bike. I'm also running a Mustang solo seat with rider's backrest (sometimes on / sometimes off). I know the website states the 508's are for those who are "average height and under" as the 518's are for those who are "average height and above".

Comparing the two there is a 3" width difference with the 518's being wider and a 1 3/4" pull back difference with the 508's being further back. So....is there anyone out there who is about my height who has gone with the 508's? Basically I don't want to feel cramped on the bike with the 508's but I also don't want to feel like I'm still reaching / wide grip with the 518's.

Thanks,
Brian

Go sit on a Roadking Custom, the 508 bars are almost identical to RK Custom bars.

Joe,
I'm 5-9 but my son, who is 6-2, likes my setup alot, and finds it comfortable. I have the 508's with the Mustang solo, and sometimes on drivers backrest. The 508's do spread your arms out more than stock, but not as much as the 518's. The also have a little more of a wheelbarrow feel, as the grips are pointed almost straight back at you. This took a couple days to get used to, but now I love them. No more neck or arm pains.

Joe I have the 518's, like john said the 508's are just like the RK custom bar. I'm 6'3 and always on the highway pegs and love these bars. 518's are wider but it a kool wide ride. If you do go with the 518's and running the SS cables, the clutch comes with good lenght. The right side get + 4 this way it can run with the contour of the bar.

I can say I've ridden both, but on a Heritage. I've had umpteen handlebar setups on mine. The originals, Dyna Wide Glide, stock Fatboy, after market med rise, med rise w/setback risers. Fatboy bars w/ risers. You name it. I have the 518's on there now. My wife's 03 Heritage has had the 508's since day one. She loves them. She's 5ft 5in. I'm 6 ft even. For me, the 508's are to far back, and too close together, and it is like a wheel barrow. The 518's are the best width, pull back, everything. Another consideration is, I've been able to do all these swaps on mine W/O changing any cables, wires,brk/hose or anything. 20 min, 1/2 hr tops to swap bars (unless you get fancy like I did last time and run the wires inside-that takes longer)

Hope this helps.

Joe, I am 5'10' and run the 508s & Mustang Solo w/backrest. It is a perfect setup....FOR ME. You are a pretty big fella, and I don't think you would like the 508s. The 518s would be a better fit for you, IMO. Whichever you choose, I can preomise you this, they will look GREAT. Good luck!!

518's. I was in the same boat a year to two back. And I'm only 5'9".
I got a lot of opinons. Most said 518s. So finally I called Wild1 and they told me 518's.

They were great. Only thing though. They recommended 4" over cables and stuff. I found (for a fatboy) 2 inches would have been fine. I had a ton of excess throttle and brake line.
So Actually put the new bars on the bike first and then measure how much more cable you're going to need.

Good luck. Nice bike....
