Default Garmin/Harley GPS

I just picked up a Garmin/Harley GPS for my Ultra. Gonna be putting it on this weekend.

I was just wondering if anyone has this GPS unit and the MP3 player too. Are these systems compatible. Will they both work together thru the aux. setting in the stereo system?

I do not have the MP3 player yet but am interested in a purchase if both systems will work together.

Thanx
John

I've seen the MP3 and it does plug into the AUX, but do not own the HD MP3. I have the GPS and it also plugs into the AUX if you want to hear the voice instructions to turn over the radio speakers while following a route. If you wanted to use the GPS in this way and the MP3 at the same time, I think you'd need some type of "Y" adapter to plug both in. Not sure if this would work or not.
I have an iRadio MP3 on my Ultra that plugs into the AUX so don't use the voice instructions on the GPS while the MP3 is on.

A little off subject... what kind of mounting system for the GPS? I want to tie in my IPOD for the ride to Sturgis and I'm looking for a mount.

I had my local HD dealer install the GPS during my 1000K service. HD sells a mount kit 54 dollars I believe. This is the one they used for my install. I can take some picture of how it looks on the bike, although I beleive I've seen some on this site already under the "grey beard" thread.

No, mine is not a Harley GPS. I have the Garmin Quest for my car and the Harley mounting bracket will not work with the original Garmin. So I had to return the bracket to the dealer and make one myself. Now that is is all mounted I can also use it in my car also (cost less also). I do have it pluged into the AUX plug. I just push the mode switch to get Aux to listen to the voice then when I get to a long stretch I switch back to music. You can watch the miles coun down and switch back when needed.

I was on route 80 and went to pay my toll and the voice said "lost satellite siginal....searching for signal" and she looked at me and I just smiled and left.

The hot shoe mounts onto the inner ferring by drilling 4 holes. The connection is not universal but specific to the Harley/Garmin GPS. Although, I have seen Garmin III s with a handlebar mount maybe that system would fit your application.

I ride an Ultra - have a Garmin 2610 mounted on one side and an IPOD on the other. THe IPOD goes throught the aux and I simply look at the 2610 plus can hear it on the included speaker.
