Still running my OEM battery for now, just shy of 2 years. But, I have noticed a couple of hard starts in the past month or so. The starter kicks in, and cranks slower than usual, then the motor fires up. I've got it on a tender right now, but I'm gonna put a new battery in before riding season rolls around again next Spring. Looking for recommendations, and it's all about quality, not price.

Early last spring I had the Road King in for service. I specifically asked to have the battery and charging system checked. When I picked it up I was told everything was fine. Took it back due to backfire on decell and again asked that the battery be checked because if it sat for two days it was very slow turning over. Again I was told it was fine. Rode it home and the next day would not start. They had two shots to replace the battery with no questions asked by me and they blew it. I wasn’t going back to them for a battery at that point. Done with dealer at this point I went to Batteries Plus replaced battery for 30% less plus labor.

In Way...You are Right!
I would have to agree to a point. Whenever I purchased parts on Ebay I always look for HD brand. That way I know they will fit. Batteries? Maybe not but I do not know...that is why I am reading this post!

Yes, all MoCo OEM batteries are indeed manufactured by East Penn Manufacturing Co., Inc., Lyon Station, PA 19536. You do have to do a bit of research to see which one fits your bike but you can buy them locally and save a good bit of money. East Penn brands them as Deka batteries.
