Default picture of the cat in the head pipe

does anyone have a picture of the headpipe opened up to show the cat...I am going to remove the cat from my bike and I am trying to figure out exactly where to make the cuts when I open it up, I am trying to make as small a "door" in the pipe as possible and if I have a picture showing one opened up with the cat still in the pipe I can figure out where to cut it...Oh, and its a 11 flhrc...

bet you could find a take off for super cheap and experiment on it instead of your pipe.
probably worth the cost of admission...
can do the whole mod without putting your bike down and if it all goes horribly wrong... big deal. right?
good luck and please take pics I am about to gut mine too.

Just cut it in the middle of the oval shaped section then dig it out in both directions. Be tough to get it out a "door". It would have to be a big door.

I don't see how you could effectively clean out all the material by cutting a small door in the collector. This material isn't easy to get out. The best way is to cut it in half, remove the material and have it welded back up.

Search the forum. I just looked at a posted link where someone cut a door into the head pipe. He cut about a 180 decree section out cleaned the cat and rewelded it.

Do a search and you will find TONS of info.

Some good "De Cat" Pics here.

Cutting the access hole, instead of cutting the pipe in half I'm sure will help keep some strength and integrity of the pipe. This is how I did mine

Good Luck
