It will cost more to mod out a bike, but if gives you something to do......and a few things you will do over.
Both ways are expensive and never finished.

that is one of the most wise and true statements i've ever read here...

Damn you ELECTRADAD and your perfect-pair avatar!! I had to go back to the first page to remember what the thread was about.............................
.............oh yeah, keep or CVO.

Keeping it? Cool part is it'll be 'yours' by way of whatever you do to it and so on. If your mods are not too extravagant your hit won't be as painful down the road if you sell/trade or god-forbid total it. Sadly you'll lose pretty much everything you put into it resale-wise. If you can keep that poison out of your head you probably won't care.
Especially if you attempt to deal with the Rossmeyer stealer types of dealers. In this economy has anybody heard of $800 freight & prep, $600 stealer fees and a guaranteed lowest possible trade-in value? Yikes!
Buy the CVO? If you thought you might put that much crap on any bike, sadly, you'd be better off with the CVO. They're expensive as hell, but with HD's parts prices you'd pay way more if you tried to put that same stuff on another touring bike. Sucks but true.
How much more would you really have to put into your bike to make you smile? That might be your question.

Just a thought.

(go..........ELECTRADAD!)

Like what's already been mentioned, CVOs actually are a good value for all the goodies that come on them, that and they hold their resale value a little better. If you want it and can afford it, get one, but know you'll still be modding it. I personally would keep the SG.

Either way, do what makes you happy and go ride the hell out of it!

I don't agree. I'm happy with my 07 with the glide pro kit.
