I just got my 10" bars from Yaffe, they have a install sheet in the box and they recommend getting a different top clamp, it's the one piece one instead of the 2 pieces. I can see if they were real high cause you'd want that additional clamp, but is it necessary for the 10's??
Yes get it, is well worth it (i got mine from Dr, V-Twin).
It really locks them down solid and takes any soft feeling out of them. You might not need em for the 10"s, but why chance it? They are recommended right?
My 575's are 1.25 inches thick. At the center where they clamp down they are one inch thick and have a large oblong hole for the internal wiring to be rrouted out of. That is where the bars are the weakest and can crack or break. Do the one piece for safety's sake.
Without the 1-piece clamp the left half and the right half will twist at times independantly of each other. That torsional movement can crack the bars through the center "bewteen the clamps." Obviously this could lead to a really bad day.
For the $40 or $50 it cost it is cheap insurance, so yes get it...
get it, cheap part and insurance for you. I ordered it by Dr V-Twin with my 10" PYO and we install a old one on my friend's RK when he swap his ape too.
