Too bad the used 2011 RG CVOs shocks aren't the premium shocks that the SG CVO used, those would be a great improvement in ride. Good luck with your swap.

Do it right the first time and spend the money and buy a set of Ohlins. Yes they are 4x as much however you will be amazed.

do a cross reference and make sure the kick stands are the same. When you start raising the bike, a shorter kickstand will make the bike lean over too far.

Valid point, but I don't have a valid budget for that . The next big mod, and final one based on past experience, will be 12" apes. $950 kit if I go all chrome with Hill Country Customs.

You're kidding right? 1" in the rear, uninstalled? HD really has different part numbers for kick stands for touring bikes?

I'm not concerned.

Understand with the budget. I have cycle smith 16's and love them. Good luck with the changes.

I made the same change on my 08 SG and loved the results. I switched to a set from a 10 EG and if I remember correctly the newer shocks are valved a bit differently as well which also helps with the ride.

Your question has been answered but I'll weigh in.

I did this mod on my 06 Street Glide. I found the ride with the shorter rear shocks unacceptable. So, I bought a pair of used 13" Electra Glide shocks off eBay ($50.00) and couldn't be happier. Of course I sold my 12" shocks to someone wanting to lower his bike and wound up making money.

Two cautions: I'm not sure pre '09 shocks are interchangeable with '09 and and later shocks due to the frame change. Find out and make sure you are buying something that will work with your bike.

Secondly, make sure you buy shocks that have been properly capped or plugged at removal to prevent oil loss. If the seller doesn't say this has been done, ask. If he doesn't answer, don't buy.
