I know some of you guys up north are riding in some cold temps w/ 1/2 or no helmets. Can anyone recommend to me a balaclava for big heads? Most are one size fits all, and they squish my melon.

Check out under armor heat gear in a sporting goods store, they would be the best bet and you can try them on.

 

I've got a big melon, too, and understand. I have the HD fleece balaclava and like it a lot. I tried the neoprene, but like you said, I feel squished. I have another at home I really like but can't remember the brand. It is part fleece, part neoprene and has drawstrings to adjust around the face and head. If I can remember, I'll get you the brand.
