Default Demo rides, no follow up?

I made my second trip to the same dealer on his demo ride day. We rode 3 bikes, meaning we spent 4 hours looking around on sat afternoon. 3 weeks and never heard a word, no survey, no pitch, what did you think?, blah, blah, etc., really shocked me. They had a captive audience and all my info. I got the feeling from some dealers that these bikes sell themselves, maybe to some. Maybe diehard Harley guys don't care for good price and treatment and they know you're buying anyway. I'm still waiting on 3 phone calls on quotes/price beaters.
I'll be going back to thank them for the demo ride on the new RK(26K they lost) from the dealer that treated me the best and dealt the best.
I compare Harley and John Deere. They both have the marketing over the competition, people that never touched either will wear the T-shirt. Except Harley has yet to limit Dealers radius, I guess it good to have 8 dealers in 40 miles.

Strap on some b@lls. If you want a bike, go in and get it. Being a follower and waiting for others to make a move is a passive way to live. I prefer to take the bull by the horns.

I did the demo day a few weeks ago and wasn't expecting nor received any followup. I'm pretty happy with my 2010 RK and am waiting for the 2013 Anniversary editions to come out before I decide if I want to trade up. That being said if I was ready to buy a bike I certainly wouldn't be waiting for anyone to call me.

i think if they started 'hard selling' everyone that came in for the demo rides, the demo rides would begin to lose their effectiveness. i certainly don't want anyone to call me afterwards, and honestly, didn't expect them to. if i need someone's help to figure out what i want, i'll ask for it. so far, i've done a pretty good job of figuring it out for myself.

I agree about not wanting phone calls afterwards. I would give a fake number just so I don't get the calls. When I am ready to buy I will contact them. After that if I don't get a response with quotes, then I would complain about no follow up.

I agree with most of the other post, last thing I want is a salesman calling and bugging me, BTW, what RK cost 26k?

Demo days around here are a mad house. They usually have enough customers going in and buying bikes that they don't have time for follow-ups or contacting people. The last one they did, they sold 17 bikes that day alone.

And I prefer not to be hassled. If I have a question, or want to buy something, I'll approach them.
