WOW! I've been following the DB threads from day one and in my very humble opinion, can't figure why someone would actually want that system on their Harley. I have a SG, loved the looks of the lowered shocks but hated the way they performed so I changed to the standard height shocks. Now I have a great ride but of course it doesn't look as cool as the stock SG. My point is that I consider the quality of the ride way more important than looking cool. I figure if the MOCO engineered, tested and approved the lowered style shocks and they ride rough how in the world could anyone imagine some slammed aftermarket shock performing any better? I know some guys can't figure out what they want to change next but when you think about it, a lot of engineering went into developing your Harley so why screw it up? When you mess with the suspension you are altering the way your bike was designed to handle. Just my .02 I guess that's why they make Vanilla, Chcolate and Strawberry! To each his own.
Not everyone is interested in this kind of system so they can "look cool" rolling in front of the homies....I personally want a compressor assisted suspension so I can adjust on the fly for passengers or changing road conditions....and for slamming it during those rare occurances where I've had to back my bike up in a gravel parking lot....like you'll find out in the Black Hills.

and like John said, you screwed the pooch going to the stock harley air shocks. The ride is so much better on most aftermarket shocks.

I am smiling because I have always thought that there were only 3 Stooges[sm=boink3.gif] Now I find out there are 4 of you[sm=smiley30.gif][sm=insomnia.gif][sm=smiley35.gif][sm=smiley8.gif]!!!! Sorry you dont like the tough guy picture patriot guard[sm=americanasmiley.gif] but it is America and you can post what you want. However, after carefull review of your bikes. YOUR OPINIONS ARE STILL WORTLESS!!! Spend more time working on your scoots and less time posting. Once they are up to par come back and your opinion may be worthwhile listening to but for now[sm=lame.gif][sm=trust_me.gif] This pic is for you funny little men[sm=smiley30.gif][sm=smiley29.gif][sm=smiley35.gif][sm=smiley8.gif] LOL LOL LOL !!!
Little man, I am only going to say this to you once.
You need to get you a set....... because you are whining like a little girl....and then once you grow that set....learn to read...and learn to actually see who says what.

Can you see your mistake and make it right?

Now is your chance to be a man....can you handle it?

Sehag, when you explain it that way your logic does make some sense to me. There have been occasions when I traversed some uneven pavement and wished I had more or less air in the system so under those circumstances I do see your point. As far as the homies go, they already think I look COOL! LOL!

In one of the many threads, it is mentioned that the model numbers have been ground off the shocks and then painted over.
In many posts, it is referenced that this is a corvette shock for a 70's? corvette...

How do you know if the model number is ground off? Also, is it possible that Monroe starts with a stock body and customizes from there, then grinds the stamping off since it no longer has a stock part number?
I would think that if DB(Tony)ordered spec shocks or off the shelf shocks from Monroe or who ever makes them would have a part number on them for ID purposes. What if the shocks have to be returned under warranty?

Monroe would not grind off the part number, only DB would do this to help prevent copy cats IMO.

Tony slammed me for writing down the part numbers, no inventory with the instructions:
" I would love to meet directly and see how he wrote every part number on our system down"
Always good to have the part number in the future in case of problems. Might save some disassembly.
