Default Wind Deflectors, Softail vs. Touring

Just had to post about how great a job the Wind Deflectors (58121-85B) do on my 12 Limited.

I mounted a set of these on my old Heritage Softail and it was a real PITA. Had to enlarge the holes, and even then, they just barely cleared the Turn Signals. They did help with wind buffeting though.

I took the Lowers off of my Limited and thought I would try the Deflectors again to keep the legs a little warmer as the temp drops.

Man what a difference! Install was a snap, and the top of the Deflectors almost meets up perfectly with the "wings" on the Fairing. Really does a great job of deflecting almost all of the wind. Probably take them off in the Summer, but they are really gonna help on the colder Fall rides.

If you have a Tourer and have been thinking about these, just do it.

I have a set on my RK. Love them. Put them on at the end of summer. Haven't decided if I'll keep them on all the time or not. They sure help with buffeting. And my engine doesn't seem to get any hotter than it does without them.

Do the deflectors keep off more wind than the lowers?

I know. I have them on my 2000. They fit perfect. On/off 5 min. My wife wanted to try them one day.
They barely fit her 03 Heritage. They hit the turn signals. The holes barely lined up, and they touch the engine grd on one side. Aren't these supposed to be identical motorcycles?

I believe that they do actually. I really liked mine, but am running Hog Chopps lowers now.

Was the wind buffeting your helmet less with the wind deflectors on as opposed to the fairing lowers?

I installed a set of wind deflectors on my RKC. It cured about 85% of the buffeting and the air doesn't blow my glasses up anymore.

I put the deflectors along with the fork baffle on my '11RKC and can really tell the difference with the cooler temps. Tip: I installed my deflectors with my bike on the jack, and turned the wheel lock to lock to insure clearance. Left would barely touch the engine guard; pecked around on them with my rubber mallet to insure no touch anywhere and gaps are even at lights, etc. to my approval. Not much adjustment at the bolts... Chinese metal benders a little off I'd say...

The P&A catalog description is a bit confusing to me. Will these work on an Ultra Classic without removing the lowers? I had them on my Road King and they did a great job. Would like to use them on the Ultra to deflect the wind that's coming through the gap between the fairing and the lowers.
