Default Exhaust Question

Would appreciate feedback on customizing exhaust headers/mufflers (American Custom) vs. going with a V&H or Reinhart product. Obviously they are less expensive ($400 vs. $900+), which is appealing these days.

Thanks.

If you're on a tight budget then American Custom is okay. I would also check out FuelMoto/Jackpot, Jamie may be able to "hook you up" with a deal.

shop around and get what you want , if you want V&H you better ge them , if you get something else you won't be happy and will just waste the money and wind up with the V&H anyway

really depends what you are trying to do and you order of priority

looks
performance
sound
cost

these are not always the same.

if you have a 2010~12 model then have the cat removed from your stock headers

that'll give performance at low cost

you could also get your slip on mufflers of choice-- again you have to balance priorities.

the more you narrow down what you want- the happier you'll be with your choice and the least expense.

Guitar's got the decision process down as I look at it.
See this for my AC 2 cents: https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touri...ml#post8977092

They're working for me; I'd do it again.

I just installed my AC Powerflex Headpipe, it really woke up my Rush Big Louies and took care of the heat issue.

Guitar's right on the money. Pipes need to look good then performance is key. I think I need to start with the headers first. I am partial to the V&H Power Duals. Look good but also ups the performance measurably, at least that's what my research has come up with.

Your not comparing apples to apples. A 900 dollar set of Rineharts with the stepped headers will add a lot more on the performance side than a de-catted stock head pipe and slipons. If your mainly wanting sound then the AC system is the way to go.
