I plan to buy shocks next spring, when I first started my research I was 95% progressive, 5% anything else. Right now I'm 85% ohlin, 15% anything else, unless something major happens before May, Ohlins it is, nice thing is they aren't to far from where I live.

I put the #3-#3 on my bike , I cannot describe the improvement in words because it is that much better , Howard goes above on customer service too , I will never ride with any other shock , this is the best performance upgrade I have made , you can lower the #3-#3 from 13" to 12 3/4" as was mentioned

Which would be about 1/8" at the seat. Hardly noticeable I'd say.

When I first contacted Howard it was kinda funny as it seemed he was a little more partial to the Penske line . I had prior 30 years Ohlins experience so I didn't really give the Penske much consideration but I am certain they are excellent as well.

I think before next riding season I am going to have to contact Howard. I have the Progressive HD440 in 13" length and just not happy. They just are not as good as I expected, acutally, I am very dissapointed in the progressives. There is no middle ground with that shock, it either bottoms out on sharp bumps or tops out because of the lack of rebound dampening.

Cornering clearance is important to me so I do not want to do the 940 because they will lower the bike, even though you get the benefit of 13 inches of travel.

You just talked me out of the 940's. Ohlin's are pricey. Gotta justify the $.
Penske's ?

I do not agree , I put them on at 13" and was not flat footed , when I lowered them to 12 3/4" I was , I doubt 1/8" did that

The difference between 13" and 12 3/4" is 1/4". That's just simple math. That 1/4" is at the rear wheel. So the midle of the bike is only going to lower 1/2 of that 1/4". That's 1/8". So you must have been only 1/8" away from flat footing.

Your butt is a lot closer to the rear axle than the front axle. Your going to get close to the whole 1/4" at your butt. When I lowered my bike 1", I got a lot more than 1/2" (your argument) lowered @ the seat.
