Default Front brake switch

Ok, so the 04 RK classic I just bought started having issues with the cruise today. After reading here and looking at the bike I noticed that the brake lever is always engaging the switch. I can push the brake lever slightly forward with my fingers and it disengages the switch. It has stock levers with nothing added.

Right or wrong I wedged some cardboard in there to seperate the lever from the switch and for now it appears to be working. I know this is a "ghetto" fix. Question is, is that sufficient to solve the problem or do I need to go get bent over at Harley for a hundred bucks or whatever it costs to get it fixed?

More than likely the lever has been removed/re-installed without following the service manual. That will usually screw the switch up. The switch breaks out of the wiring harness and has to be soldered in. It's a little tedious to replace but not all that bad.
