I believe there is a updated part from Harley do a search and you will find more that you ever wanted to know about faring brackets. You will also find that the short brackets that attach to the speakers are common problem also.

Easy fix for the fairing bracket. Get some 90 deg brackets at your hardware store of choice, and bolt them on. My right one broke, and it is very common on pre 09 bikes.

I just bought a kit on ebay that includes all the screws, brackets and drill bit to repair the vertical bracket as well as the bracket near the speakers. Took me 25 minuts and it's solid. Only cost me like $30. I could have gone to the hardware store and made up a kit, I'm usually the guy that would do that, but in this case, this was just easier...

I just repaired mine yesterday using a 90 deg. bracket from Lowes. Total cost $1.95 since I already had some nuts and bolts to use. It took about 20 minutes after I got the fairing off.

fixed my broken brackets with scrap steel in my garage. A couple bolts, some drilling and cutting. over 40K miles now, and still strong
