THx again for the replies guys. THere is a template in this thread:

https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touri...-template.html

This looks a bit rough but should hopefully do the trick. Once I get my hands on a chopped backrest, I may take you up on your offer Holster Maker.

THx

So I really wanted the get this right the first time so I made a template from the lid of my T Pak and went to the Eastside HD where they let me pull the backrest pad off of a used bike to match the holes. Funny thing was that the holes were drilled incorrectly on this bike in that that the hole on the right side were too high. The holes on the left were are where the cable mounts so I was confident in the placement on these so I drilled the left and bottom first...

After installing in the left an bottom holes they were about a 1/4 inch off so I widened them a bit with the dremel.

I am really happy with the results and my wife will be happy when I get this out of the living room... I think I am going to plug the left and right side with a nice set of chrome acorn nuts.

Kool........glad you got it done and looks great!
You will like that a lot better, being solo set-up. My wife also likes the smaller pad better.
What's really kool, is I can take the whole thing (t-pak) off in minutes...love these new q-detaches!

The pre-drilled holes I filled with some black plastic button caps from the hardware store. On my Black Pearl it doesn't show enough to be a problem. On your gloss black it may appear as a small dull spot, but I doubt it'll be a problem.
I stuck the plastic plugs in a piece of cardboard and painted the tops Rustoleum gloss black. Thay matched my Vivid Black TP almost perfectly.

Default Took it for a ride yesterday, love it!

So I got around to riding yesterday and took some photos while there was good light.

And here is the sissy bar pad I have for lower back support:

Here are the acorn nuts:

Hard to tell from the photos but the paint below the acorn nuts got marred from the King TP. Next time I send stuff to the powder coater, I will get 2 of thee plates on the right coated vivid black

This came from my King TP hardware and went on the inside. THis is the perfect size and will be nearly invisible when coated.

As I mentioned, I got a 70-mile ride in yesterday and I love the chopped backrest as my backrest when the TP is on my solo rack.

Looks better.. Good Job!!
Now take that rack off that looks like an antenna and you will have a more
stream-lined look.
Try that and see, and I'll bet you like that look too.

Can you show what you did for lower back suport? It looks like you mounted a backrest pad to the tour pak mount. I need to do something similar. Thanks

It is indeed a backrest pad that I used double stick velcro to attach to the T-Pak:

Since these photos were taken I have added some additional layers of velcro to cant out the bottom of the pad to get it positioned for my lower back. I have had no issues with it moving.

Once you get it dialed in your are going to love it. Without the lower pad I had zero lower back support.
