Would I have the same problem again if I ran a T-header? djl, I just started looking at the CR575's and the S&S551's. I'll also take a look at the 204's but how do I know which will be best and with what pipe?
Hard to say. I was just pointing out one example of how a pipe change can impact a torque curve. This particular builder campaigned a Pro Gas 45* Harley motor against all the others that ran the 60* motors. He was always competitive and, IIRC, won the class two differeny years. He runs 11.5 compression on his street bikes; twist the throttle in second gear and his Dyna will do a rolling burnout. Point being, the guy knows what makes Harleys run and stay together. He has probably tuned every pipe on the market, this is his first Bassani and he is very impressed. He also likes the D&D pipe a lot.

Settle on a cam, run it with your T-header, make sure your tuner is a "qualified" SERT tuner and see how she runs before changing pipes. There are only three, now four, 2:1 pipes that I would run; V&H Propipe, D&D Fatcat; Supertrapp Supermeg and now, the Bassani Series II Road Rage. I run a Python 3 on one of my bikes, basically a V&H Propipe with slash cut, straight tail pipe made for Drag but they don't make it any more or it would be on the list. JMHO.

I sold my Road King Classic. I just bought a 2012 Road Glide Custom so I'll be starting from scratch. I dont have the T-header anymore...

Another 2-1 I haven't seemed mentioned that I almost bought was the Rush 2-1. Would be worth looking at, Doc speaks highly of this pipe for power when tuning.

For the money you are going to spend, I would call RBRacing and order the LSR 2 into 1 pro stock exhaust, then call Dave Mackie and talk to them about which cam to run.

Im getting ready to change cams on my bike like the OP but am only looking at the 204 or the 255 since Im staying with the SE cams for a couple reasons (credit withthe dealer and Ive had good luck withthe 204 before)

I had 204s in my Fatboy witha 95" motor and I was very happy withthe results. there is a lot of info on the 255 in the touring bikes but does anyone have dyno sheets or have the 204 in their 103 ?

Thanks

Are you serious? that is just horrible advice; exhaust is a consideration, but a specific exhaust system should not be the primary focus when planning a build, please explain.

I don't think I've heard this complaint before. What kind of heat issues, radiated heat or oil temp? If the latter, what kind of temps were you seeing?

Another thing I didnt like was I had a dip in TQ curve right in the spot I didnt want it. I was running a 2-1 T-header and one of the techs said it was my exhaust causing the dip but I was under the impression that the 2-1 pipe would help with this problem, not hurt it. My numbers were good with the 255's at 104 ft lbs TQ at 3280 rpm but the dip before the 3280 sucked...
Haven't heard this one either, but I did see a 103/204 chart once with a dip, and IIRC it also had a 2-into-1. You might give Jamie at Fuel Moto a call for advice on this. He sells Wood cams at discount prices.

not mine but a couple of examples of 96" with SE204s are attached. Also attached is a 103 with SE204s and "light" headwork which is basically radius valve job, OEM springs, guides and valves and some port cleanup.
