..interesting...I wonder if this will be used as evidence in the class action suit agains HD for excessive heat...

They are replacing the switch but, is the cat also boiling the brake fluid to failure? Constant heating of the brake fluid will break it down and that whole line should be moved inside the frame, IMO. Brake fluid can boil away because of this heat. Only time will tell if the heat from the cat has an effect on other components. Removing my cat was the best thing to do, for me.

Hard to say it isn't excessive when it's melting factory parts...

If the cat is the problem, then why are the "cat-less" '09 models included?

It says they're aware of 1 crash because of this. I wonder how many crashes and near misses have happened without the rider knowing what caused it.

The plastic switch is melting and bike looses the fluid when you press the brakes the plastic switch pops off and.................no rear brakes !!

I lost my rear brakes while riding the Needles this year, the 5 mph switchback. Peddle went all the way down with zero rear brake. I did not lose any fluid but I am confident I boiled the fluid when this occurred. Not a good feeling.
