'cause I found out when the pin came out it rattled away and gone---it's on a road somewhere in Colorado... was able to look at a new in package unit and discern which part was missing.


replaced with dummy ( opens with any barrel key) from dealer pal in denver RMHD

I thought you said you had two fail the same way, I just figured if you identified the same deficiency twice, you might be able to avoid the same problem by trying to correct it on the next one. What's a dummy that requires a key to open, the stock latches all open with any barrel key.

One of the first mods done on my uc. Beats digging for the key,plus if someone wanted to swipe fuel,any barrel key will open the fuel door. Now if the moco would make a decent looking fuel door to replace the plain jane stock door.

The lockable one is not to prevent gas theft,but to prevent some a$$ #ole from putting in the tank something that doesn't belong there.

Geeze....I understand that nasty stuff can be put in fuel tanks. But if somebody is THAT intent on messing with your bike........do you REALLY think a $20 lock is going to stop them???

Been riding bikes since 1974. Never had anybody dump trash in my fuel tank.

There are SOOOOO many other options wide open to screw up a bike, if somebody really wants to do so.. You folks must hang out in some bad places in the world to be this paranoid.

They do. There a few different ones you can get.
