I have the locking one and am ready to replace it with the other. The button is about 3/16" wide and flush with the locking mechanism. It is almost to push in with a finger and I have to use a key to push it down. I am going to replace it with the non-locking one very soon!
Same here...started with the locking button (HD) and soon changed to the Kuryakn push button as the locking button was difficult to open
I didn't see the point in getting the lockable option. I've never had gas stolen from any vehicle. And if somebody wants to steel gas, I would think a cage with 20 gallon tank would be a better target for them.
It may not be gas they are looking for. Vandals can ruin a good bike putting stuff in your tank. However I have the keyless gas cover and no I never lock it. It works great by the way.

I bought the locking push button shortly after buying my bike last year. Tried adjusting it every which way I could and was never able to get it to easily pop open. I always had to use a key or something to press in on the little button in the centre as a finger press couldn't depress it enough. I recently bought the domed one and that works perfect. Should have got the non-locking one in the first place.
Mine rattles too,I even went as far as stuffing little pieces of sponge under the button,to lessen the vibration .But I haven't noticed the rattle since I installed the 4" Rineharts.
I happen to have the one that rattles alot too, works great just noise as hell.
