sorry to hear about your problem but i wouldnt buy anything from ride wright as far as iam conserned they make junk wheels. some will say iam full of **** but 2 friends bought a set of those wheels and they dumped em quick. i have seen what sinister wheels makes and sells to me they make the best product and ali the owner has second to none service should a problem arise he will take care of it no questions asked. he a honerable person and a good business man me personally i have bought 3 sets of wheels from this man 2 sets of big daddy spokes. i wanted to buy some wheels from performace machine but they told me 8 to 10 weeks befor i see them plus it would have cost me over $4000.00 from PM. didnt want to wait that long callled ali at sinister wheels he made them for me in 3 weeks thats front wheel with tire and bearing installed with rotors and a 18 inch rear. it cost me $3500.00 and made in the U.S.A. you get what you payfor for and sinister spoke wheels are tubeless as well. i would buy DNA wheels befor i would buy ride write sorry for the book and no disrespect intended i just think ride wright wheels and service sucks in a big way.

I deal with RW personally all the time. I cannot comment on this particular situation, but wheels are part of the industry that always pose a possible issue, especially when being shipped overseas. Quite often when something gets shipped overseas, the sealing material is in the box so long that it does not adhere properly to the surface due to the lack of air in the box. I have had this happen with paint as well.
Seeing as the company offered to make it right, there is no more that you can ask for. What most people who do not work in the industry understand is that issues are going to happen. Plain and simple. It is a fact of life in this industry. I am not defending anyone, merely stating the truth.
It is unfortunate this did not work out for you and I am sorry to hear that another customer has come away unhappy. That sucks. But there is only so much that can be controlled, especially when shipping over seas.
I deal with RW almost daily and they always make anything that may happen right which is a lot more than i can say for most companies in the industry. I rubn their wheels on my bike without issue, hwoever I do run a tuve as I do not want to have to worry about my wheel holding air. Never had an issue with my wheels after a few years. As far as I am concerned, I would rather get my bike towed and get a new tube than to have to worry about the tire going flat while riding regardless of it being sealed.
RW will ship the wheel back and reseal or provide a new wheel. Good luck finding that elsewhere. As far as people's schedules and the shows they are entering, it si what it is. Don't ever plan to enter a show around adding custom parts to your bike, it is not a good idea and rarely works out.
If you are in the US and want Ride Wrights at a discount email me at info@drvtwin.com. I'll ship overseas too, but after this thread I am sure that will make it more difficult.
Remember, the custom parts industry is just that...custom. Never assume everything will show up perfect as I deal with this kind of stuff daily with all sorts of companies, big and small. Inc ase youa re not aware, ride wright manufacturers all fo tehir own parts right here in Anaheim CA. I have watched their rims be put together. I sell Sinister as well, but they are not close enough for me to visit their factory so I have not seen this in person. I have heard varying reports on their quality as well.

you are 100% correct , unfortunately on this forum there are vendors who defend companies they represent but when similar situations occur with manufacturers they don't carry then they will pile on
Oh please! Silicone rubber not adhering because it was in a box. I may not make wheels for a living but I do work with my hands and use RTV Silicone. If the wheel was cleaned of grease properly it would have stuck. Regardless of being surrounded by cardboard.
I also fully accept these things happen (I know from experience). The man who never made a mistake never made anything.
I didn't worry that there was a problem, my issue was then sending out a tube that is incorrect (not having an offset valve) which then failed last week. The other thing is lying to me with the show offer, which makes me think he would never have sent the wheels either (Maybe he would but what would you think?).
What do you mean it's custom and you shouldn't expect parts to be perfect. Nothing is perfect but I do expect parts to turn up as described and suitable for the purpose intended! If that is too tall an order you shouldn't be in business.
Wheels need to turn around in circles and hold air in a nutshell. These failed on one of these criteria.
The only difference between shipping overseas and domestically is a plane ride and high cost for the customer.

everyone i have ever talk to about sinister wheels is happy and if there not ali will bend over backwards to make it right.there right down the street from where i live and believe me i have seen there shop they also make high end car wheels as well.about 1 week ago i went there cuz i wanted a set of 1 off saddle bag latches thats hes making for me. one of his techs was looking at my bike noticed something called ali over and i noticed they were looking at my front tire. so i walked over to see what was going on and i was told the inside of the tire treds was cracking befor i was able to say anything they were taking my front wheel off and putting a new tire on it . i told them i dont have the money at that time to pay for the tire. ali told me not to worry about it he would get it warrantied from metzer. to me thats service and there is no need for me to buy tires and wheels anywhere else but through sinister. and i dont represent anyone but myself if any of u want to buy wheels or have a custom 1 off wheel i highly recommend sinister wheels and they sell bad *** apes and i pod dash boards tour paks and wrap fenders. next time your at a ralley stop and talk to ali. you wont be sorry.
A very happy customer.

[quote=Halfwit;8963166]I'm spitting bullets about the quality of these wheels and the service I've received.
I paid 2250 dollars for a pair of wheels plus about another 500 dollars for import duty and tax (I live in the UK), so a considerable amount of money. I had to save a long time to get the money together to buy them.
I put a lot of time in researching which company to buy from, trawling forums such as this to get user experiences etc.
I wanted fat spoked wheels and went with Ride Wright because of a good reputation and they also advertised that their wheels can run tubeless.
Wheels arrived and was like a kid in a candy store. Installed them, lowered fork legs to accommodate 21" wheel.
Took bike out for test ride of about 30 miles and tire went flat and I ended up being recovered home. I took tire off and found the silicone rubber bead that is used to seal the spoke holes had completely come away from the wheel as was flapping around inside, thereby allowing air to escape through the spoke nipples.
I contacted Ride Wright immediately and they said ok we'll send you some inner tubes. I replied that I was not very happy as I had bought tubeless wheels. Running tubes is fine until you get a puncture and have instant deflation on a 500lb bike whilst doing 70 plus mph. I also use the bike for touring through many European countries and wanted the ability to plug the tyre when in the back of beyond.
They replied back that they understood and would send me new wheels and also like to invite me to a UK bike show that they were attending. Put my Road King on the stand and spend the weekend with them.
I replied that thanks, but that is above and beyond the call of duty. I had no wish to profit from the situation so I'll accept new tubes and I'll come to the show (having a conscience can be a curse).
I sent him some photos of the bike for the show thing.
Inner tubes duly arrived and fitted. And I heard no more about the show. I went anyway and Ride Wright were not even there and were not even advertised as going there, so I can only assume they had no plan to go.
I felt somewhat fobbed off.
The tubes supplied didn't have an offset valve so due to stress on the valve the rear has now split and punctured.
I thought I'd try the rear with no tube as the sillicone spokes covering looked to be ok on that wheel.
Did that yesterday and this morning the tyre is flat and the air is escaping from the spokes on this wheel as well.
To say I'm annoyed would be an understatement. I'll probably end up putting the original wheels back on and putting it down to experience. A very expensive experience.
I now realise that they probably had no intention of sending replacement wheels or coming to the show and as I am half way around the world I didn't really matter.
I feel conned. Over and out.[/quote
I bought the DNA mammoths and they leaked slowly but they leaked. I ended up tubing the front and rear wheels and after using them all summer single and two up riding theyre fine with the tubes in them. I know what your feeling though I also wanted to plug my wheels if needed also, but the anger has went away with time. After trying a few different kinds of tubes and calling and searching the net, theyre arent any companies make an offset stem rear tube for these size wheels. I ended up using the metzler rear tube with a straight full metal valve, insert it in the tire and cover the tube and inside of the tire lightly with talcum powder to aid in in sliding within the tire. Repeatedly inflate and deflate the tube and it the tube will turn itself within the tire. I did this with the tire off and the tube spins around so that theres no pressure on the stem. I have been driving this way all summer with no leaks anymore. I have the 21 front and and 18 rear.

Since I have bought 2 sets of spokes for the softail that I had and a set for my dads RK, I went with DNA also. They get a bad rap on here. But over the last 2 months Ride Wrights have had several problems. Especially Peg. She is the forum member who has the Pick Softial with Fat spokes. She went through "HELL" to get her wheels rite. I Never had a problem with DNA's. But I also ran tubes in all 3 sets too.

Of course! But the mark of a company is how it deals with the customers that has had the problem!

Hi 00rg, I did manage to find some offset valves for mine (16" rear) from this company http://www.mandp.co.uk/productinfo.a...=Premium-Brand
I had a look but unfortunately they don't seem to do them in an 18 so no good to you. Also they are a British company so probably silly money for a tube to get to the US.
