On my 01 EGC it starts fine whether I bump while the fuel pump is starting or waiting until it's done. Get much better MPG now too. 43 - 44 @ 75 1 up.

Like they say try a different map.

Cool, maybe I'll give them a call, thanks for the reply. Yeah, I did the zero throttle procedure but I'll check it again just to be sure. I guess if the throttle position is not zeroed it causes an issue because the map is based partly on throttle position. If this is off, values are set for positions which don't line up with the actual throttle position, correct?

yes, that is correct.

in 07, hd made a change to the way the electrics were powered. what works with your 01, will not work with an 07.

I have had a PCIII on my Deuce since '05. The bike will start fine whether I wait for the light to go out or not. I usually wait for the fuel system to pressurize before lighting her up though. Just my way. Mine will occasionally give a high idle (1500) for a few seconds on start up. I haven't figured out just what's causing it but it doesn't happen that often so I'm not too concerned
about it.

Thanks all for the replies, will put the PC-III back on this weekend and see how starting goes waiting and not waiting. Duecedog - yours only hits 1500 when starting? I wonder if that's configurable because that was one of my issues. Mine will hit 2000-2200 on initial start when it catches. I hate that but not sure there is anything I can do about it - with the PC-III, it's always done that. I think my first step will be to find a better map or get it dyno'd.

Another thought...if you are looking at idle issues it may be the throttle position sensor. This was discussed at length by member Iclick who was able to cure his 07 check it out here:

After I installed my fuel-moto PCiii USB, I was experiencing significantly worse fuel economy and some erratic issues related to starting including the engine light coming back on after starting and staying on for an extended time. From time-to-time I would see my idle climb to 2000 and stay there for extended periods of time.
Contacted fuel moto and they had me reset the throttle position to zero (it was at 3). Pretty easy. Also my indy checked the error codes and found one. We cleaned off the connections to something right next to the ecm (I have forgotten what) and cleared the errors.
Everything seems fine now. Fuel moto sent me another map to try to see if we can get fuel economy back to where it was stock.
Can't wait to buy a set of FuelMoto's basic exhaust for my bike. Those are good guys to deal with.

Waiting for the light to go out is also a good time to be sure you see a "green" light on too...

This is true and you don't need to wait regardless of the tuner used. As has been mentioned, the PCIII will only run as well as the map that is installed. Call Fuel Moto, as they will likely help even if you didn't buy the tuner from them. Ask for Jamie.

Really the only issues I had were the huge jump in rpms at startup and the wandering idle. The wandering idle may be something else too and I guess I shouldn't blame the PC-III until I know for sure.
The PCIII shouldn't be affecting idle stability at all as long as the tune is good. Bad tune means bad running with any tuner.
