Default To Lower or not to Lower

Thinking of lowering my 2010 Ultra and I'm looking for advice.
If I lower only the rear with it throw off the balance?
What are the best kits avalible?

All stock street glides are 1" lower in the rear stck front with no ill effects. Inexpensive route would be to find some street glide or fltrx shocks

+1 that's what I did, the stock shocks go back on when touring- takes 20 minutes.

look for take offs from "upgrading" riders--- or new from an online dealer like zanotti's for $230--
make sure you get the 09 up version, they have better valving

or you can go premium and throw $600 at a set of shocks

OR you can get lowering blocks which retain use of your stock shocks, the shock angle is slightly different as the lowering blocks position the lower eye of the shock, lower and to the rear

lowering only the rear slightly enhances stability at speed, with the change to rake and trail the front end is slightly more interested in pointing straight ahead. low speed turns are slightly tougher, and require more care

Don't be afriad to lower, my RK is and it handles great!

I would NOT use lowering blocks though... I have seen Swingers break because of their use. They also usually cause issue with belt adjustment.

Just get some nice shocks and be done with it!

I used these http://www.lachoppers.com/catalog/di...313/index.html.
They lower the bike and do not change shock angle. I took off my shocks and raised the axle to check for any clearance problems, ther were none. Rides nice

I lowered my '08 FLHTP 1", stock Street Glide height. It won't throw off your balance, but you will drag hard parts more often. I'm still glad I did mine.

These leave the top shock mount as is and move the lower shock mount back about an inch, yes? Then they change the shock angle. Please correct me if my assumption is wrong.

They do not move shock mount back. The move shock mound down in a straight line with the stock mount.

Correct! The ones from La Choppers DO NOT change shock angle. I have the Road 6 on my 02 Ultra. The shock angle changes on those, but I have yet to feel any ill effects in the handling.

I am wanting something to move the passenger floorboards up and out. When the wife rides, they hit the back of my calves and really mess with stability when my legs are down holding the bike up.

This post is about lowering a bike! You would do better starting your own thread, otherwise you won't get many replies.
