Well, my Stage 1 Arlen Ness Big Sucker Air Intake arrived today. Box shows the correct part number for 08-10 FLH models.

Went to install it and found the 2 1/2" stand off bolts they sent with the kit kept the air filter 7/16" away from the backing plate. Plus with the too long bolts installed into the throttle body, the holes in the filter metal plate did not line up correctly to install the 3 screws. Why Me!!!!!

Any Big Sucker owners care to measure the length of the stand off bolts on their air intake??

The air filter itself is 2 1/4" top to bottom and from the metal plate to the bottom edge of the filter is 2".

Will be calling Ness at 7:30am their time from Jersey tomorrow to get this mess rectified.

Also, anybody else buy the pre-filter? Some nylon type material and elastic for $40. What a joke.

On the plus side, everything in the kit and the pre-filter are made in the USA.

Sounds like you got the standoffs from an Arlen Ness Stage 2 Big Sucker in the kit for the regular Big Sucker. The stage 2 filter is 20% larger.

 

- gee ask 'em to send the bigger filter, rather than the shorter screws---
