Default It Cost How Much To Rent A Bike?

I'm staying with family for the week in the Destin/Ft. Walton Beach area. I went to the local HD shop and they wanted 122-143 a day to rent a bike and a $2000 deposit on a CC.

Does this sound right? I would really like to be able to ride a little while in this beautiful part of the country. Thanks.

Sounds about right to me. One reason I never rented a bike before getting mine. It ain't cheap.

Before I ever bought a Touring bike I rented one to ride before I spent that much money (summer of 2008).
I wanted a real test ride not just around the block kind of thing.

Your costs seem about what I paid. I know with the insurance they made me buy it was about $150 for 24 hours.……….and I was still responsible for the first $600 in damages.
I thought it was $600, it may have been $2,000. Regardless of any insurance I had or what they sold me.

That sounds about right, I looked at a couple places in FL. Same price.
The longer you keep it the cheaper, ask if they have any 2 day deals...
Also, check out Eagle rider, they are like the "alamo or thrifty" of rental bikes, and they have many locations...
heres a link...

$2000 deposit on a credit card? Well, that sucks. I don't own a credit card. I had been thumping around the idea of renting a Harley on one of my work trips.

Yep, that's right in the ball park for rentals. The $2k is a hold on a credit card to cover their tails in case you screw up the bike. It's a hold, not a charge. Unless you damage the bike.

Better rent a King or it may cost you more money.. Friend of mine had a softail and rented an Ultra for a weekend, 3 days later he traded for a limited. Might be the same for you if you start hearing some tunes and have plenty of storage. As far as price that sounds right, think he paid 150 a day plus deposit. Rental fee was refunded when he bought the Limited.

I am completely satisfied with my King. Just wanted to do some riding while I was down here. Thanks for the info.
