Default H-D Extended Reach Floorboard Pans - Anyone Using them?

Here's the H-D description for subj boards. I found some used FLHX Streamliner inserts that I'd like to install on my bike but I don't have the swept wing floorboard pans. Those go for ~$60 each MSRP, but the extended pans are ~$80 for the pair... something doesn't add up with that.

Extended Reach Rider Footboard Pans - Swept Wing Shape

This kit extends the rider footboard forward of the stock location by one inch, providing the tall rider a comfortable riding position. Available in traditional D-shape or Swept Wing design, these footboard pas accept Original Equipment or accessory rider footboard inserts. The kit includes left and right footboard pans.

If you look at the photo on the website, it looks like the swept wing pans with inserts are actually mounted on top of the extended pans - is that the way these work? I called the local dealer parts counter and the guy assured me all I would need is the extended reach pans - they look chrome, but maybe not; that would make them cheaper.

Hope someone who has them can explain... would like to know before I purchase the Streamliner inserts, brake pad, etc. then find out I have to spring for the swept wing pans too. Thanks in advance for the help.

I have the D shaped version. It was the whole pan, left and right. I don't remember them being that cheap. I've had them several years. It did put my footboards up into the lowers a little bit. I also have the floorboard extenders that move the pans out a bit. Just in case you wanted to know- they can be used together.

You need the pans for the inserts to work. Did you have any luck on flea bay?

I have the extended pans (not the stream liner version). They didn't come with any pads I use my stock pads.

I have the standard shaped extended reach pans on mine.
You re-use the stock style top pieces on the new pans.
I got them to give me more shin room when I'm at stop lights when riding two up.
I run them with the Soos 1" footboard extensions and they work great for me.
I never used the back 2 1/2" of the stock pans when riding anyway , so they are out of the way and less intrusive to my riding style.
A worthwhile mod for me.

Using extended pans on my limited to get more leg room. Had to move the pads from stock boards to new pans and also added a set of 1" spacers under the frame mounting point. No problem with controls or clearance except the boards drag a bit sooner with the spacers.

Default Extended Reach Floorboards

Thanks all, looks like all I need are the inserts to go inside the pans.

Mick, TNCarters, the 1" spacers are used to lower the boards correct? Maybe thats another trick I need to try. I've been blaming my C&C solo seat for being too hard, but it could be that the position I'm in (the seat is lower than stock) is cutting off my circulation some. If my feet were lower, that might help.

All you need are the extended reach Swept Wing pans and you're good to go. $80, new, from HD. Easy bolt on project.

The Floorboard Extensions move the floorboards out, away from the frame, by either .5 inch or a full 1 inch, depending upon which kit you buy.

I use the Soos kit and love the new positioning of the floorboards.

No need to stop blaming the C&C seat. It's hard.

The 1" spacers move the boards out, not down. Several companies sell those. The Harley pans move them forward 1". You can use them together. I have the Eglide Goodies and the HD pans.

I've been looking at the new extended pans by HD. Think I'm also gonna add the extended brake lever and shifters.
