Seriously though, I have a cooler on my cop bike.
One thing that comes to mind considering an aftermarket is how far it sticks out compared to an HD. Not a lot of room between it and the fender when you compress the front end on a pot hole or something.
10,000 miles in 5 months while being active duty Army, not to mention all the things I have done to my bike (I do all my own wrenching as well)... I dont think I qualify as a wallet rider

Im getting a cooler, just tryin to get real world knowledge from this great forum

Get the Jagg w/fan, best system you can buy right now, period. Don't concern too much about being too cool. I've heard this mentioned many times but if overcooling was such a common issue and so easily achieved, don't you think there would be a bunch of bolt on systems available by now to maintain perfect optimal oil temperature, and don't believe all the lowball temperature quotes you read about either. If by some miracle all conditions fall in line perfectly any you find that your oil temps are too low, just disconnect the power to the fan during the winter months (I'm pretty sure this ain't going to happen)If you want maximum cooling potential for extreem hot environment riding, get the non-thermostat adapter. If you want to ensure your oil warms up to operating temp quick and then starts cooling, get the thermostat adapter. After designing and building my own prototype, I've been running my fan assisted Jagg 10 row for over 3 years, all the while monitoring the oil temps and CHTs. Active Army here too, If you want some no BS answers about oil cooling feel free to PM me I'll put you on the right track. Hooah! Have fun in Germany.

Both the HD cooler and the Jagg cooler on my bike now were installed with a thermostat. I believe as long as you buy the thermostat you should not have any issues with the oil running too cold.

I have found that on cooler days it does take the bike a little longer to reach normal oil temperatures. My guess is that would probably be true on any bike, with or without an oil cooler. The thermostat should not allow any oil to run through the cooler until the oil heats up. On a cool day, it will probably cycle open and closed as needed.

In regards to condensation, I have seen a lot of discussion on here about that subject. Water will evaporate at any temperature, even freezing. Ever leave ice cubes in the freezer for a long time? They get smaller. The only thing that higher temperatures do is cause the water to evaporate a little faster. As long as you run the engine to normal operating temperatures you should be OK.

Hope this helps.

I've had both, but Harley has made changes to theirs from the one I had. I'd have to see the new one to see what they've done different.
I now have a Jagg without the thermostat. (never mind anything about getting too cool....yeah right, a Harley that runs too cold....that I've gotta see)
I can't say I notice any real difference between the two, operation-wise, but the Jagg lines are routed better than those of the HD one I had. (I suspect those are the changes HD made when they upgraded the cooler I had....the routing of the lines on mine were constricted; the lines went to the end of the cooler closest to the mount. The Jagg lines run across to the other opposite end of the cooler from the mount)
I thought that at one time Jagg made the coolers for HD. Maybe they still do?
One thing's for certain.....I will always have an oil cooler on my RK.

I took th HD one off my 103 and threw it in the trash , I did a write up on here on the Jagg, I installed the 1st Jagg fan assisted 10 row low mount they released , even without the fan the Jagg kept my temperature 20* minimum cooler than the HD unit , there are several reasons , the Jagg is 10 row HD 7 row , Harley tilts their coolers at a 15* angle , Jagg is not at an angle which forces more air actually through the cooler and last the interior design is completely different

Hey Z, real world knowledge would be if you really do that many miles, a cooler is something you absolutely do not need or all Harley's would come with one. They are air cooled. And please do not put a fan on a Harley!

Cop bikes come with them for slow speed traffic, parades, funerals, escorting, etc.

Just ride.

Well Harley has made them stock on 103's now. I just finished a FM 107 kit and I dont have an oil temp gauge so I have no clue where my temp is at. If harley has now realized one is needed, then maybe they really do need them.

I have been running the Ultracool for awhile now and it really keeps the bike running much cooler.

We carry them and install them all the time. A lot of guys are going to the Ultracools lately.
