3 ohm speaker w/ Rockford 4ch amp????
I was told that the new Rockford 4 ch amp can only run 4 ohm speakers. I'm using Polk Audio 6x9 in my saddlebags they are 4 ohm. I'm using 6.5 inch Hertz speakers in the fairing they are 3 ohms. My question is will I do damage to the Rockford amp by using a 3 ohm speaker??? Thanks for any help given.

Not likely to do any damage to the amp, but a buildup in heat is what you want to keep an eye out for. An impedence mismatch will cause a loss in sound quality, how much of a loss I don't know. I do know a difference between 4 and 8 ohm will sound like crap. So whatever distortion is created by this could possibily cause damage to the speakers at high volume.

Hertz website reports the HCX 165 as 4 ohm. Refer to the attached picture.

How did those 3ohm speakers work with that Fosgate Amp? I'm considering the same setup for my bike
