Just got my 12 RG home from the dealers. It was after dinner and the sun was dropping so I headed the 20 miles straight home. However, with the cold front passing through, there was strong north west winds and high gusts.

The bike tracked perfect. The wind did not have the impact on steering as it does on my 10 Ultra. The bumps and tar strips didn't rattle the fairing like the Ultra either or impact the front suspension as much.

The steering head was not out of adjustment. Very solid precise feel in the handle bars.

Was not enough saddle time to adjust to the stationary fairing though. As it still felt funny turning into the drive and garage.

The ride was long enough to tell me that the RG will be a more stable ride for long distance touring.

Full tank of gas and sunny tomorrow. Horizon here I come.

Ok guys time to put this thread to bed. I told the better half what when down on the demo ride. All she could say was NO way get the fugly out of your head. So I'll be pulling the trigger on a new street glide. Thanks everyone for your input

IMHO, nice choice staying with the streetglide.

you really can't go wrong with either choice. but really, the dealer did you a disservice by not having the steering head bearings adjusted properly. they are going to lose a few sales that way.

there is a bulletin out that explains the fallaway setting on the newer road glides is to be set at 1 to 1.5, not 3 like the other touring bikes. some of the mechs don't know this.

.......... and i'm sure you'll both be happy whilst out riding it.

.... but everytime you see one'a them roadglides arrowing across the great wide open, that irritating little voice in the back of your head will be saying 'you know, you could have been ridin' one'a those' ......
