advice on seats

I had a similar problem with the stock seat. I really wanted a custom seat, something that I could put the miles on. I looked at Corbin's and Rich's but it just did not work out. I thought about the Sundowner. My Harley dealer has a bike set up where you can change seats from stock to Sundowner to Hammock, etc. I just did not see enough difference in the Sundowner padding and design to think it was going to work even though those online here all say it made a difference.
I eventually purchased the Mustang # 76033 one piece touring Seat on a super discount coupon + free shipping and it has been better than okay. It has certainly turned out better than I had hoped. I just did 470 miles in 12 hours around the Olympic Pennisula on Saturday with just the Mustang seat. I brought a sheep skin just in case but never put it on.
I'm 6 and 220# so what works for me might not be the same as for you. Some told me I would need a break in period, but I have done several 400+ day rides since I got it and it seems okay for 500 miles. I rarely ride over 700 miles a day, so for now I am happy. It also has a huge pillion so I expect that anyone riding on the rear would be more comfortable than the stock seat.

My vote is for Corbin. Had a Dual Touring saddle on the soft ail and now on the Road King Classic. It's hard, and it takes a bit to "settle in," but worth it. I have a Sundowner that was worked by MeanCity Cycles and it was good to go for me but not for my wife (the Sundowner is now for sale!). She much, much prefers the Corbin.
Rachel at Tricounty Harley (513.874.4343) will hook you up with a 20% discount. Ordered it and had it in 3 weeks. Great to work with!

i purchased the HD hammock seat recently. thought no way it could be worth the price - i was wrong!!! seat is great. i am 6'3" - 235. My Harley dealer put a half a dozen seats on mine before i made the decision. buying a seat is tough. buying on line is very difficult at best. imo - i wanted to sit on the seat before i bought.
good luck

Had good luck with Corbin. Have to say though, "Every *** is different" could be the quote from this thread that sums it up best, and life in general occasionally. lol
