Default Wobble prevention and my new friend!

Yes I checked tire pressure occasionally, but now I check it religiously. I was out riding yesterday trying out my new frontend RaceTech gold valves and my Avon venoms and I experienced a bad wobble. I came back to the garage and started the process of elimination. First thing I checked was my tyre pressure and sure enough they were way off.

I went this morning and invested in the best tyre gauge I could find (the one I had was a cheapy) I came home this evening and put 48psi in the rear and 42psi in the front. I took it back out to the same highway and hit the speed that I was having wobble issues with and "poof" problem gone!

I know to check the tyre pressure every time I ride, but I haven't done it regularly, mostly because I got lazy and mostly because I haven't experienced a low tyre wobble like that before. Avon venoms demand more air pressure as most of you know and it woke me up, so please guys, check your air pressures no matter what kind of tyre you have, it just might save your life.

Excellent advice. I don't check every ride, but at least once per week and always before any significant ride.

Did you compare the pressure reading between the cheap gauge and the high $ one? My digital one had died on me. I have two cheapies, 5psi + difference between the two.

To be honest no I didn't, but since I'm taking tire pressure more seriously I wanted a better gauge and one that had a 90deg bend for easier application.

1.) think about nitrogen
a.) doesn't expand/contract with temps, elevation
b.) larger molecules less able to migrate through the rubber

2.) I had boxes of cheapo "Acura" gauges, giveaways from a trade show, checked a bunch--- maybe 10% were close to 40 pounds at 40 pounds...but could be way off at 25 pounds.

threw them away, what a pain.

Is that the gauge with or without the extension hose? Looks like you have spokes so a bit easier to use....pita checking pressure on the RH wheels..wonder if this gauge works well with my wheels

Actually I did, but since I have Avon tyres I just spell it the way that Avon does since I was talking about their tyres. I just assumed that most would know that, sorry my bad.

Port Dwag,
It does have the hose and it has a 90deg end on it. It works great for spoked wheels!
