factory PSI
#21
Why? Because the owners manual says so? If I run mine that high, with the roads here in IL, it beats me to death. I run 10psi one up and 22psi with her on the back. Run a bit more if I'm two up and have the bags stuffed and the T-Bag on there.
That's with a RGC and the lowered shocks which need a bit more air. I would think on a bike with the 13" factory shocks you could run even less.
I run about 3-5psi on the '07 SG.

I don't recall what the HD Manual says for stock. Mine are the custom lowered shocks. I go by what feels right. 35lbs of air and it's a very rough ride (uncomfortable). 45lbs of air with just me (225lbs) and my junk that just seems to accumulate constantly puts my bike at 984lbs according to the scale at the Scrap Yard I frequent. With the Ol'Lady on we're well over 1150lbs total and the pressure has to be bumped up to the 50 - 52lb range. At 55lbs of air it starts to get stiff.

Funny how answers are coming all over from those that don't know or don't even own the same bike.
Per the manual
Rider weight:
0-150 0psi
150-200 0-10psi
200-250 10-20psi
250-300 20-30psi
300+ 30-50psi
With luggage up to 40lbs: Basically add 10psi
with passenger 40-50psi
maxed out 50psi
Per the manual
Rider weight:
0-150 0psi
150-200 0-10psi
200-250 10-20psi
250-300 20-30psi
300+ 30-50psi
With luggage up to 40lbs: Basically add 10psi
with passenger 40-50psi
maxed out 50psi

+1 You set it based on your expected load range, check your manual for the proper setting. It all depends on what you weight, what your passenger weighs if you have one, and any cargo you may be hauling around.

The shocks will not leak any air at all. Exceptions are a leaky seal or sitting over time where the seal forces may be weakened. Mine stays right were I put it for months.

acd118, i'm guessing this is your first experience with harley's air shocks? everyone i know and ride with, it's always the same procedure, we check the air pressure, but it never really changes unless we change it. trust me, harley air shocks don't have a mind of their own, nor are they "programmed" to bleed off air as we ride. i gotta tell ya, i laffed my butt off that someone would really think that harley has "smart shocks" i.e. auto bleed. but man, if you believe it, more power to ya.
