I don't want protection from the Gov't. Helmet or seat belt.

And who pays the bills for your heart attack or stroke because of your eating habits, lack of exercise, etc.?? Everytime some fatass has a heart attack or stroke my insurance goes up. I want diet laws for everyone that is over weight because the rest of the people have to pay the bills because of their health issues.. There are a hell if a lot more people on the veggie list because of strokes than from motorcycle crashes, with or without helmets.

Also, judging from the list of mods on your bike, you are way out or compliance with the laws of the land, that are "just there to protect you and the rest of the population".

"Loud pipes save lives"??? So does constantly honking your horn, but honking is not against the law, and your mufflers are. You cn't have it both ways. Support the laws you agree with (Helmets) and break the ones you don't (mufflers and other mods).

It is the infestation of the progressives (maxist and communist) into our education and political system over the last 100 years. Slowly tweeking and pushing us towards a totalitarianism. We need more liberty loving politically active to vote for what is best for individual liberty and not the community. In the long run, without individual liberty, the community loses as well.

Always remeber, Hitler of the **** (National Socialist) Party was the first leader to ban smoking, ban cetain kinds of foods and require physical fitness programs.

Presently the obesity epidemic in this country is a far greater threat than all the bikers in the country that are not wearing helmets, so step away from the burger bi!ch.

And don't start the public burden arguement that I saw above. Tell me how busting my head is more of a burden than someone having a heart attack or stoking out because of diet or exercise issues, smoking, etc. How would you like to get pulled over for that Big Mac? Or better yet, let's just shut down all the places that feed us stuff that is not good for us.

Stopping to check for a DOT helmet is not harrassment because that is the law of the state. What is harrassment is the fact that the law exists to begin with.

Wear a helmet if you want, don't wear one if you don't, but don't mandate what I can do with my life.

Strokes and heart attacks are not always self induced, genetics, other factors can play a roll, not wearing a helmet, proper or otherwise is self induced.

Yes, I have loud pipes, and no cat's...ok, you got me. But I still wear a Helmet. Lol. I'm pretty sure my loud pipes don't create a health risk. Do ears count?

And BTW, honking your horn for reasons other than an emergency situation is against the law, at least here in Mich it is.

Great observation. It's unbelievable to me that people just can't seem to grasp this.

Default Just My .02

IMO - the trouble with helmet laws and similar (seatbelt) type laws is that it gives government a foothold into regulating how we decide to live our lives. In my experience, if you give the government the first inch the next step for them would be to take the next MILE! While I feel that not wearing a helmet would be a dangerous decision, I strongly feel that the choice should be left to the rider. Back in the 60's when seatbelt laws were passed here in NJ we were told that it would NEVER be used as a platform to stop and ticket anyone. WE ALL KNOW WHERE THAT ONE WENT! Times are tough. Government is out to generate more income. I don't blame the cop for doing his job, but feel that to a degree big brother is a bit to big.

.
Your loud pipes are not enviornmentally compliant and the removal of cats fall in the same catagory. You are causing illegal polution that is a risk to all of us if you choose to believe what we are told. My not wearing does not create a hazard for anyone but me.

You obviously want to have everything your way. Helmets because you believe in them. No compliance with federal law concerning emmissions, because you either don't believe in those laws, or you like the attention you get from making noise.

Maybe the cops in Michigan should be making stops to see if your modifications are in compliance. Is that going to be okay with you???
