Then an unbelted occupant in the rear seat will kill a belted occupant in the front seat from flying forward. That's a fact too.

Or those who could make a choice, but would prefer not to have 1/2 of their face scraped off. Laws are for them too. The choice was made for them. Just like seat belts, etc.

Odd how some choice states require passengers to wear a helmet. More irony.

Has nothing to do with privacy whatsoever. It's fundamental safety, period.

Another funny thing about helmets, those that race don't file formal protests about wearing a helmet. Or wearing a seatbelt.

Yeah right. Driving is a privledge. You don't like laws but drivers licenses are a requirement, other safety equipment like headlights. Stop lights, etc. Helmets are a fundamental and easy to follow.

Regarding novelty helmets, in NorCal they are so "out of style" now they look ridiculous on anyone wearing them and even SOA looks goofy because the characters still have them.

Hasn't happened, won't happen. Logically it will never happen.

Completely wrong. Healthcare costs.

Incorrect. They "give" us roads to drive on. A few simple rules to follow and yet the cool factor of the helmet puts everyone in an uproar. Too frickin' funny.
First off, I wear a DOT/Snell helmet. I think the novelty helmets are goofy looking. It's my choice as I see it.
French fries are not healthy and can cause obesity and health problems which raises the premium rates for all of us.
The point is where do you draw the line? At what point is it up to the individual to decide and take responsibility for their actions? Why do some people think the Govt needs to control every aspect of our lives?

I was done with this thread until I saw this food comment.

There is nothing wrong with French Fries IN MODERATION.

So that argument doesnt count.

And in a round about sort of way, the government has already stepped in, and has made it mandatory that restaurants have available to their customers nutritional value.

Yes the choice is still the consumers.

Exactly! I'm glad you see it my way. The choice is, and should be, with the consumer (rider).

Satire...

Beginning January 2012 the DOT, FDA, FTC, NTSB and the FCC will now require ALL MOTORCYCLIST to use the following safety gear.

Full Face Safety Helmet with a flashing yellow caution light to prevent head injuries.

An upper body Air System Safety Vest to prevent upper body injuries.

And a flotation device while traveling over a bridge, to keep you from drowning.

All in the name of your safety.

This ad brought to you by those looking out for your safety!

I will also say one more thing,

I keep seeing people say, where do we draw the line?

Well dont you think that maybe the line has been drawn? A helmet is a small thing to do, but the other stuff that wz proposes would be over the line.

I have enjoyed playin round with you guys, I certainly dont want to make enemies here on a msg board...

I feel they have just begun, with a sharpened pencil.

IMO our country is headed down the path of socialism, a Nanny state, from cradle to grave.

Simple, because they are lambs. They think the government always knows what is best for us. They are also the same lambs that more than likely voted for O, well you know, our current almighty savior....
